UdderHope - our entry in the 2007 Cow Parade

Having faced many significant challenges in my life, "What's helped me through them was having hope. I don't believe you can sit around and wait for something to happen. You definitely have to be your own best advocate and have action. But I feel without hope it is hard to move forward or to take that action". - Jody Ferrer, Owner, The Perfect Promotion

"This year I've sponsored a cow in the 2007 Cow Parade in West Hartford Center. The cow is named "Udder Hope" and represents the hope which people can use to help overcome the challenges of life. My involvement with Cow Parade began as we gained their business, producing Cow Parade t-shirts, caps and other promotional items. I had been involved with Cow Parade the last time they grazed in West Hartford (2003) and I thought it would be so much fun to have a cow -- but I couldn't justify the expense at the time. The cow is a tribute to my mother, who passed away from Breast Cancer, and to Breast Cancer Awareness. Publicly honoring my mother is something I do every October during Breast Cancer Awareness month and I thought this would be a fun way to do it along with my breakfast."

The cow, painted by Marybeth Blonski, enjoyed an amazing transformation from a blank cow to the many layers of paint and glitter. It will mean many things to many people, as works of art will do. Our goal was to invoke a common feeling of hope and healing - echoed in the words placed on the cow - "Peace and Love All Around - Higher Hopes".

Here is a slideshow presenting the evolution of "UdderHope":

"What does Udder Hope Mean to You?"
We are pleased to announce "The Rae Lasky Scholarship of Hope for Learning".

As part of our ongoing effort to raise Breast Cancer Awareness, we have decided it was time to go beyond the breakfast. Jody has created a scholarship in her mother's name. The scholarship, officially titled "The Rae Lasky Scholarship of Hope for Learning" will be given to the person who submits the best essay which answers "What does Udder Hope mean to you?".

The winner will receive $1000, which can go toward education, and it doesn't have to be college - "not everyone wants to go to college. It can be a technical or vocational school," she added. Participants will have until Dec 15th to submit their essays, with a winner announced on January 26th - the day the cows go to auction at the Bushnell Theatre. Formal entries may be submitted by email or by mailing your essay to The Perfect Promotion, 10 Crossroads Plaza, West Hartford, CT 06117.

You can leave comments about our cow, your own personal intrepretation of "Udder Hope", or just reach out for a friendly business introduction. While most of our promotional marketing efforts include logo’d apparel, mugs, pens, custom chocolate and more, localized in West Hartford and Greater Hartford, "the theme of "Udder Hope" is really universal, and we wanted to use the social networks to spread the word over the web. 3rd Annual Breakfast for Breast Cancer Awareness

This year we held our 3rd annual breakfast for Breast Cancer Awareness to support the Hartford Hospitals Partnership for Breast Care. We held the at The Pond House in West Hartford on Thursday, October 4th. Each year we feature a guest speaker who has been influential in raising awareness for Breast Cancer. Last year's speaker was RuthAnn Lobo. Everyone who attended was really lucky because Ruth Ann brought her daughter Rebecca --the famous former UConn basketball player. Each year we also invite some of our vendors so that the people who attend can get some ideas for future promotional needs. This year we were excited to have Bernie Siegel speak.

RuthAnn Lobo

Last year's speaker at the breakfast was RuthAnn Lobo. Everyone who attended was really lucky because RuthAnn brought her daughter Rebecca -- the famous former UConn basketball player. RuthAnn Lobo entertained, inspired, and coached the audience. She does the same nationally, a professional speaker on a variety of topics including education, gender equity/sexual harassment, mothers and daughters, and women's health issues. She is committed to speaking on coping with breast cancer.

Bernie Siegel

This year's speaker at our breakfast was Bernie Siegel. Bernie was very inspirational and his words are always appreciated. Bernie Siegel is a best selling author and speaker, specializing in the mind-body's connection with healing. In 1986 his first book, "Love, Medicine & Miracles" was published. This event redirected his life. In 1989 "Peace, Love & Healing" and in 1993 "How To Live Between Office Visits" followed. He is currently working on other books with the goal of humanizing medical education and medical care, as well as, empowering patients and teaching survival behavior to enhance immune system competency. Bernie’s realization that we all need help dealing with the difficulties of life, not just the physical ones, led to Bernie writing his fourth book in 1998 "Prescriptions for Living".
